Beard Knowledge, dropped

Keeping a beard doesn't mean never seeing a razor again. Maintaining that beard is what makes a good beard great, and knowing what you're doing is really helpful.

The straight razor, a man's sharpest friend

Ok, so there's 2 blades. 4 blades and a "conditioning" strip. 5 blades, a "conditioning" strip, a "precision" blade and a roller ball hinge??

Meet the team

We have been selling our great beard care products for about a year now and have been in contact with a bunch of great bearded men. From our customers to beard advocates, we are happy to be part of a supportive and passionate community. Bearded guys are really some of the best guys out there. We wanted to take the chance to introduce some of the guys on our team and other people that we have had the chance to work with.

Introducing Nick...

Who:

Nick Sky is a committed bearded man who is thrilled about what he does. A better beard is his current mission!

What:

White Spade Beard is Nick's baby. After the bed-beard, the "you look like a hipster" comments, the "I think it's time to shave" suggestions started getting to him it was time for a solution.

In comes White Spade Beard.

After trying many different beard care products, none of them stood out as great choices. Not many oils were organically fragranced, the oils were too heavy and looked greasy in the beard. He wondered how something so simple was so hard to perfect. This is when the journey for the best beard oils started.

He is set on making sure the oils are the perfect blends for each beard out there!

Where:

We are extremely proud of being based in Chicago! We are working with barbershops around the city to get every beard in this town at it's best. Then working on the rest of the world through our online shop. One beard hair at a time.

When:

White Spade Beard was born in mid-2015 after months of research and work done perfecting our first product. Our Signature Organic Beard Oils. We're now proud to offer our 'Stache Shapers and Dream Beard (Overnight Beard Balm)

Why:

Because beards deserve better. "Dollar club this" and "monthly beard that" don't express the true value of a beard. A beard gets you attention (if you want it), Laid (if you need it) and respect (because you deserve it). We promise to never put out a product before it's ready for your beard and stand by everything we sell 100%.

Introducing Daniel...

Who:

Daniel is Nick's younger brother. Dan is the financial guy behind this mission. He was smart enough to trust Nick and his drive to build a great product.

What:

Daniel still works at his day job full time while advising Nick with day to day operations and investing some of the money he makes back into White Spade Beard while the company grows.

Where:

Also, based in Chicago, Dan is around to help whenever beard oils need bottling and new products need brainstorming.

When:

Dan joined the team and invested in White Spade Beard in Mid-2015 to get the brand off of the ground.

Why:

Because, while only wearing a short beard, he understood that there was a need for a premium beard oil made of all organic ingredients. He was aware that Nick would be able to meticulously build a product that would help bearded guys everywhere

Introducing Scott...

Who:

Scott is one of Nick's best friends and trusted "Smart Guy". He went to college with Nick and partied while discussing business, life, and passions.

What:

Scott was brought on to manage product for White Spade Beard. With a passion for natural products and the smarts to make them happen, Scott is in charge of getting the best beard care products in your hands.

Where:

Scott lives in Chicago. Scott is Nick's roommate and is always talking new beard products...in between beers and blackhawks games.

When:

Scott joined the team in November of 2015.

Why:

Scott is a very smart and resourceful guy. He sees the potential of White Spade Beard and is very confident that he can bring new products that beards love.

Now that you got to know us a little bit, we want to hear from you! Drop us a line on our socials, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Or just send Nick an email at Nick@whitespadebeard.com

There have been a few times in recent weeks that the comments have gotten, aggressive, untrue, and at times racist. This is when I just had to flip out on the person (who will not be named) and give them an attitude adjustment. What I said was

Hipster Beard Glasses and Fedora

We all get them. The "You're such a hipster, shave that beard" comment here and there. If you're like me, they get annoying. Especially if you don't consider yourself Hipster in any way.

First, some people are okay with being labeled a hipster, and that's fine. Every generation has them. It seems to come from the previous generation's dislike for differences in the way that they grew up. Here are a few things we all need to know about those hipster comments.
